Smoothies, Yum!
I like breakfast drinks but I always mix my own. Good quality whey protein, fruits and/or vegetables, water and/or skim milk and a blender. These drinks can be very filling and very satisfying for those who gag at the thought of scrambled eggs. You can experiment, find something that appeals to your taste buds and enjoy.
I have found that I can toss in some fresh spinach along with apples, kiwi, banana, berries and/or a combination of any other fruit and the taste of the spinach will be hidden by the sweet taste of the fruit.
Try to stick to fresh ingredients but in the winter months when fruit is hard to find, not as tasty or super expensive, frozen is a good alternative. Juices such as orange, apple or pineapple can be used in place of some of the water or milk or all of the fruit.
You can also make a special coffee breakfast drink by brewing some of your favorite coffee, flavored or traditional, allow it to cool, add some protein powder, ice, skim milk if you like and blend.
You can make these drinks as thick or as thin as you like. You can eat them with a spoon or a straw. You can pour them in a travel cup and take them with you to work or to the gym or drink them while you are dressing.
A refreshing drink, especially in the summer time - anytime of the day - is to use sugar-free lemonade mix along with a scoop of protein powder, water and ice. Blend and drink. Drink the entire blender if you like.
I know a lot of people who like to ‘drink’ breakfast. As long as it is not limited to a cup of coffee and you do add the nutrients that will get your body off to a good start for the day and it satisfies you.....go for it!
