The Cabbage Soup Diet -
There are so many ‘diets’ out there, it would be hard to review all of them. I am going to review several that I have actually tried myself. Some ‘diets’ are not even worthy of review or serious consideration. Please.......bananas seven days a week is not healthy and you probably won’t make it past lunch, much less make it for seven days.
One thing I would like to point out. You should be aiming for a new life style - not a diet. If you do try a ‘diet’, you will probably lose some weight. After all, you are probably eating less and differently. Your body will respond. However, as soon as you stop the ‘diet’, the weight will most likely return - with a vengeance.
I have actually tried the ‘diets’ that I am going to discuss. Mostly because I wanted to see if they worked and/or clients asked me my thoughts about them.
I was born and reared in Texas. I adore Tex-Mex cuisine. I live in Georgia now. Georgia does not understand Tex-Mex. Sorry, Georgia, but your Mexican food and barbeque leave a lot to be desired! I visited my daughter and her family in San Antonio and I really overdid it on Mexican food. Hey, I was on vacation and I had to get my fill. Anyway, when I got back to Georgia, I felt bloated and uncomfortable. I decided it was a good time to try the Cabbage Soup Diet. I followed it exactly. I lost 7 pounds in just a couple of days. It was mostly water, but I felt less water logged and much better. The diet promises that after the seventh day, you will have lost ten to seventeen pounds. I was not overweight to begin with so I did not get those type of results but I was happy with the seven pounds of water weight I did lose.
During the week that I was on this particular eating plan, I ate protein, fruit, vegetables and soup. Certain foods are specified for each day. I was satisfied, never hungry and enjoyed the variety. On the day that I ate mostly fruit, I did have the desire for protein and on the day that I ate mostly protein, I did have the desire for other things but overall, I felt good and had energy. A lot of the diet plans out there leave you craving foods because those foods cannot be eaten for long periods of time.
I love cabbage soup. It is a warm and cozy food to enjoy during the winter months. I make cabbage soup all the time but I make it because it is healthy and delicious. When I make it now, I add chopped chicken breasts in order to fulfill my protein needs. But it is hard to overeat on cabbage soup. I make a giant pot and eat it for several days.
However, you are eating a lot of cabbage so plan on spending extra time in the bathroom during the week of the ‘diet’ plan.
